Hi everyone!! I have been researching online but I know I get some amazing help here. So I am still not sure how it happened but something got my brooding duck,Fawn, just over a week ago. She had been on here eggs for roughly 4 weeks. We rushed to get the incubator out of the shed and set up for the eggs and prayed!! We lost two of the babies but the others are doing great. I checked them about 1130am and two have external piping!! You can see good movement in all of them. My question is with having to put them in artificial incubation after they have been incubated by their Mom for 90 % of the time,Is there anything special I need to watch for.. anything different I should do? I am so excited, but also scared. I tried one time before to incubate eggs and lost them all. It broke my heart. Please give me any advice you can. Thank you do much in advance

I've never done anything like that before, or even have an incubator, but I'll see if I can help out. :)

Throughout the time of incubation, the mother talks to her babies, in this case, ducklings. Within the lockdown days, the babies start talking back. This is part of the bonding piece, and them learning each other's voices. Something you can do with the ducklings who are still in the eggs is do little soft chirping sounds by the eggs. This will help them to learn your voice and confort them. They should talk back from inside the eggs, though it might take you chirping a few times before they do.

Other than that, I don't know of any other things special you can do with them. They should be pretty fine. Just make sure they're in a secure brooder set up with the right amount of warmth, along with food and water sitted up so they don't accidentally drown themselves. ;)
