Hi- My little 1 yr old Polish has vent gleet. (Covered in white liquid ,but not too smelly yet). She's straining too. Reading around, some say the straining might be eggbound, some people say that their's strained with gleet. I've given her a bath in Epson salt (for the Gleet) Trying to get her to eat yogurt..no, wheat germ.. no ACV...no :( But, if she's eggbound- it's a whole new frantic ball game. I'm about to use warm water. I guess my question is: Is it normal for her to strain with vent gleet? Thanks! Pam

Ok- I'm seeing that it's common to strain. I wonder if I should try to feed her the yogurt with a syringe? And the ACV. Ugh. Dealing with 2 cases of wry neck (silkies) and 1 vent gleet (Polish). It almost makes want to give up with chickens. One good thing- A three wk old chick is better with wry neck within 1 wk!

I'm so sorry. I have silkies too! Just finished nursing one back to Heath with wry neck when two days ago my other silkie came down with wry neck also! I understand your frustration!
