Looking for info
I just moved my 40 quail (2 wks old) from their brooder in my garage into cages in my garage.
It's been VERY hot & rainy summer here, and I noticed *alot* of flies in the garage after I opened the doors 3 days ago, they never left.
(Neighbor is a farmer)
When I moved my chicks, while cleaning out the dry brooder bedding today, I saw a significant amount of teeny maggots under the bedding....
I have 2 x chicks appearing lethargic, still drinking.
Obviously getting fly traps but a few questions here 😞

- How do I know / check to see if any of my chicks have early stage flystrike?
- Is this contagious between birds?

Thank you

Check vents, open wounds, not contagious but opportunistic. Get a cattle barn fly spray and treat the entire area (remove birds and any feed/bedding). Air out and replace birds/clean bedding.
