EMERGENCY Moving chickens

I'm so upset, all my chickens are in boxes and we've got the coop half on the trailer and the winch broke. Won't be able to fix it until tomorrow. We're abandoning our old broken down house, would it be better to let them loose in one of the bedrooms or keep them in boxes for the night? I'm so worried they'll have a heart attack with the cyange, they're all over 3 years old and have never been moved. They were so upset when I boxed them up, they've never been so scared. They are not free range, should I just put them in the coop at a 45 degree angle for the night? I'm worried catching them again tomorrow will kill them with stress. Is it unethical to keep them in the boxes overnight? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm a wreck

I would put down newspaper in one of the rooms and keep them in there if the coop is not secure. Keeping them in the boxes overnight would be too stressful IMHO.
Thank you so much for your response, I just needed some kind of direction. They're just so quiet in the boxes I was hoping that would be less stressful than a totally new environment and catching them again tomorrow. I really spoil my chickens I really love them I just want them to get through this, I'm so distraught. Thank you again for your quick response, I was going off the rails

You’re welcome, how did everything turn out?
