I’m sorry. Go slow with her.
Lubricate her and Tuck it in.
Swaddle her up in some towels and snuggle her for a little bit if she’s used to being handled.
Get her settled in the crate I’m not.

Did you do an internal exam to see if there’s an egg in there? Sometimes you can feel it through the outer wall of the abdomen and try to work it down.

But the caveat here, I’m sorry to say is that sometimes they don’t survive this. If they have a weakness in their heart (which could be the darkened comb- but not definitely) or an underlying reproductive issue that can’t be turned around she might pass in the night.

I sure hope she does too! Remember though, that although chickens are hearty, they are also birds, and birds are very fragile and sensitive creatures.

A purple comb is not be a good sign as far as circulation is concerned, yes her butt should be in the water but she needs to calm down.

Do you best to reassure her by holding her wings to her sides.

If she’s really stressed take her out and try a warm compress.

By now your kitchen floor is probably soaking wet.

Throw a towel on the floor so you don’t fall.
The people at the emergency room treating you for a broken limb will never believe your story.

Sorry but have to ask have you been one of the ones in the emergency room with a story like this?
