Emergency. Need help. *graphic image*

I’m still following while mashing potatoes.

Yes. Vaseline will do.

Hey I’d set up a little “hospital bed” for at least tonight for your girl so you can keep an eye on her.
Dog crate, laundry basket, cozy Box...

Towels or blankets in the bottom.

Darkness would be good for the majority of a day or so to shut off her triggers to lay an egg and let her “factory” reset and the swelling to go down.

If the prolapsed tissue pops out you’ll have to keep gently pushing it back in and keep it moist.

Even cooking oil is fine. Petroleum jelly is the base for most medicated ointments, so yes that works. Many use hemorrhoid cream, but it and honey are both good to reduce swelling. Nowadays some use hydrocortisone cream. Try to push the prolapse back inside and hold it for a few minutes trying to relax the hen. It hells to try and stop laying. It may take several days of keeping her in a dark room or covered cage for 16 hours overnight out of every 24 hours. Don’t let her get too hot though. Reduce her food or feed less protein for a few days. Give lots of water though.

Got a dog crate for her. Currently soaking her in the sink. Her comb is starting to turn purple too. Good to know Vaseline will be enough. Is it important that her butt stays in the water?

Understood!

A purple comb is not be a good sign as far as circulation is concerned, yes her butt should be in the water but she needs to calm down.

Do you best to reassure her by holding her wings to her sides.

If she’s really stressed take her out and try a warm compress.

By now your kitchen floor is probably soaking wet.

Throw a towel on the floor so you don’t fall.
The people at the emergency room treating you for a broken limb will never believe your story.

They sure won’t lol! She’s been quite calm thankfully. The floor has stayed relatively dry until a few seconds ago. Still looks kinda bad though.
