EMERGENCY! Need help in Euthanizing turkey!

EMERGENCY!!! I need immediate HELP! I have a pet turkey who injured his leg. Tore off his back claw. For 2 months we have given antibiotics and wound care non-stop. It's time for him to be at peace.He can not walk, he is 27lbs & ican't lift him.I have been and hurting myself badly too.His foot and leg are very infected even thoug it's been cleaned & neosporin and etc. I am know as the "Animal Whisperer" by many. I am disabled and on Social Security. I can afford a vet visit nor the gas to get there. I am not one to give up on any animal.But, i must put him out of his misery. I love this bird!!! Can someone tell me if I can usde my own MsContin or Oxycodone to euthanize him? how much I have 60mg tabs in the Ms & 30mg in the oxy. Please don't delay in answering. I can NOT behead him!

Oh, I'm so sorry for you. It's very hard to lose a beloved pet, and worse if you have to "help".

I have heard that using starter fluid, which is just ether, can knock them out. Perhaps that and the drugs in a strong overdose. Just don't use up meds you need for yourself. Or, maybe car exhaust (carbon monoxide). God bless and good luck, I hope you both find peace.

i know you dont wish to behead but it really is the quickest and painless way to do it.
could you not ask a neighbour or friend to do the deed for you?

I am sorry for your struggling over this. There are other ways to quickly kill a large bird without beheading. Some are no easier. If you are really just trying to put the bird down, a shotgun is an effective tool. At close range, a shot to the head or neck will not be felt by your turkey. Not trying to be gruesome, just offering another option.

Yes shotgun will do it very good too, but shotgun has limitations, not everybody here owns one, shotgun makes lot of noise, therefore if you shoot one in one of those gun paranoid areas of our country you can get into deep poop.
