Emergency! Please can anyone help?

wow! That's great! i am going to try it when i go to the barn today. Thank you so much. The gosling has been outdoors and eating grass, but I have chopped up some , greens, carrots, cabbage, and strawberry tops for some sweetness. With the goose i used to have, as a gosling i also added brewers yeast. I also found that b complex and niacin should be used. i will try the others you suggested. i dont think they put it on any starter feed since it appears to be free range. i used non medicated for mine and he thrived with it. Thank you for that link, it was actually the most helpful about the splint.

You're welcome. Again, keep us updated--I'm curious to know how this turns out...

So I went over t the barn a bit ago and here is a picture of how his hock joint looks. Swollen and possible infected? I could not feel a tendon out of place on either leg, but maybe I did not do it right. He acts much better when being held and there is no pressure on his leg. It's leg has minimal movement. Its femur does seem to be out of place, not sure if it popped out or maybe it was just born this way. i added som brewers yeast and b complex to the veggies I took over and I paced him in a large pet carrier with a folded blanket, a snuggle toy, and food and a very shallow water dish. Here is that pic. its poor leg does not look good. I feel he would benefit fro a "chick chair" to help it get its other leg stronger. As it is he can only drag himself a small bit with lots of difficulty. I hope they let mr bring it home to help.

Thank you. I sent the photos to my vet this morning and am awaiting her advice. She does not work on birds though. I have tried to contact the only avian vet in my area but no one is retuning my calls. The other challenge is that this gosling is not mine, but I feel the need to help. I have to say thank you to everyone on here. You all have been so wonderful, helpful, and supportive. I am doing my best to help this baby survive.

Looks like the baby has been "walking" on its hock and there appears to be some infection. Soaking in Epsom salts will help. Is the hock locked or will it move.
As they were doing the manipulations on the gosling's leg, did they notice any limits in range of motion?

Water therapy helped Ninya, the white goose with the splint. The slipped tendon responded to the splint and the water therapy helped strengthen her foot and leg muscles. A hobble helped later to straighten the pigeon toed walk she had. While she is still pigeon toed and has a greater waddle than Charlotte.

I did some manipulations on him and he has full range of motion. He can pick the leg up but that is all. I found an avian vet that i can take it to on Monday, but I want to get their permission. I tried to locate the tendon, but could not feel anything. Not sure if i did it correctly. I am headed over to check on him now. Thank you.

I have the go ahead to take him to the vet on Monday! They were surprised when I offered to take him in for them. They were not able to get an appointment with their regular vet soon enough. He is eating and trying to use his leg but to no avail. They have been putting him in a small tub of water so he can get some weight off of it and get som no impact movement. He is one lucky gosling to have so many people who care and are all on the same page for his care and well being. I will let you all know what the vet says on Monday. Thank you all for your help and concern. It is so touching to find so many animal lovers.
