Emergency! Please Help! Have a sick Easter Egger Rooster!

My rooster isnt doin that great...Hes 6mo old, his droppings are white and green not runny..he is eating and drinking ok..His comb is becoming lighter pink now and he cand stand up now..he was ok a few weeks ago..hes also stopped cock a doodle dooing....but does make a few noises..what can I do for him? Please help..Balckbeard is my daughters pet...

Separate him from the others so you can monitor him. A box or laundry basket is fine and a dog crate will do just make sure it is big enough. Give him an old clean towel to lay on.

His poo sounds fine and it's good that he is eating and drinking. I think it could be mites or lice. Check him over carefully. Look for the nasty critters at the base of the feather shaft and around the vent area. If the vent looks dirty then he has buggies. Dust him with Sevin dust or poultry lice and mite killer. Dust any other chickens you have also and the coop will need to be cleaned if it is mites.

The pale comb means he is not getting enough nutrition because the bugs are sucking his blood and he is probably anemic.
Feed him scrambled egg, cottage cheese, chopped greens, broccoli and some fruit. Not too much fruit because it will give him diarrhea. If you want you can make up a batch of the special food and keep it in the fridge. Give him one tablespoon at night and one in the morning. The rest of the day make sure he has pellets and fresh water.

I would recommend getting Poly Vi Sol liquid baby vitamins. Any pharmacy carries them. Get the formula WITHOUT iron. Give him 2 drops by beak in the morning and again at night.

If he gets any other symptoms let us know. This could be as simple as bugs or it could be the start of something more serious.

Blackbeard still seems to be the same..his comb has somewhat of a purple tint to it now and he still cant stand...he manages to get on his elbows now and thats all....what else can I try??? His poop is still normal and he eats and drinks ok, he looks like hes losing weight to me though..any more suggestions please help! thanks so much!!!

I found this post on another site, and it sounded similar, so maybe it will help.

I have a couple Old English bantams. Last year, when I first received them from a young individual they seemed fine, but after I took them home I noticed a rooster wasn't acting right. His comb would turn pale then to a light blue and shake his head, like he had something stuck in his mouth. I caught him and opened his mouth to take a look, he had something in his mouth alright. I got it out and only a few days later the same thing happened. This time I found a larger piece of "something" around the back of his tongue as I was pulling it out his comb turned blue as if he couldn't breath. I took it to the vet, he said it was a type of fowl pox. A "wet version" whatever that is. I found out there is a vaccination you can give your birds so they want catch fowl pox. I never would have known what it was. I vaccinate mine now just in case. I have not had a problem since then. Just thought I would share what happened to me

I really can't say that this is your problem, but it couldn't hurt to take a look right? Do you have a vet you could take him to?

If he has wet pox or something stuck in his throat he could have a sore throat.​

Are there any other symptoms? Drooping wings, half closed eyes, loosing feathers, making funny sounds when breathing? Give us all the information you can think of.

Is it possible he could have gotten into poison? Rat poison or eaten something bad for him.

Did you dust him for mites and lice? Did you check him all over his body? He could be injured and with all those feathers it's hard to see a problem. Go over him with a fine toothed comb.

If all else fails I would worm him with Ivermectin. Use the kind for cattle. It's called 'pour on' because you pour it on cattle but you put drops of the solution on chickens. For a 6 month rooster I would give him 6 drops. You place the drops on the skin, on the back between the shoulders. Make sure it gets on the skin and not on the feathers. If you get it on the feathers it will not work.

If he has a gape worm growing in his throat this will kill the worm and he should start to get better but without more information that's all I can suggest.
