Emergency please help!

I have a small silkie chick who got a little too curious and started eating the tarp I have to cover their coop due to the rain. A piece of the tarp string is caught in its mouth and I can’t get it out. I’m afraid If I pull on it it’ll cut something or rip his tounge out. Please help me I have no idea what to do

I would open his mouth and have a look inside. See if it's wrapped around the tongue. If not, hold the mouth open with one hand and gently pull the string out with the other.

Have you tried opening the beak and gently tugging?

I think you can slowly and carefully pull the piece from his/her mouth. The other end is in his crop. Just be gentle but pull steady. If he gets it down it can cause a serious obstruction.

I tried this, and when I pulled he would squeal so I think it was caught on something. However when I tried pulling it again, it broke off, so it came off but I’m not sure if he’ll be ok or not.

It was still like stuck but it broke off near his beak so I’m not sure if it’s still stuck in there. I feel it might be but I’m not sure what to do

Open his mouth and look. He's not going to like it, but oh well. He'll survive. Hopefully if he swallowed the rest, it will just pass through.

If this ever happens again, do not try to pull it from a closed mouth.

Yea I will keep a close eye on him to make sure he is ok for now. And yea he would not budge to open his mouth, so next time I’ll try to open it bigger so it hopefully doesn’t hurt him

They never like being restrained or having their mouth opened. They struggle and protest, but just know that you're not hurting them when you open their mouth.
