CHICKEN SWALLOWED STRING HELP

I have several chickens and to open the chicken coop I have a string hanging on the door,!one of my chicken swallowed one end of the string and I don’t know how much string is still inside and I’m unsure of what to do from here.

Should I cut close to the mouth, or should I try to keep pulling? I’m hoping that somebody can provide me with insight so that my chicken doesn’t die thank you. I’ve also attached some pictures.

Oh my gosh. That is horrifying. How long was the string to start with? I would try very, very gently to remove as much of the string as possible before cutting.
