Emergency!! Positioned wrong/Assisted hatching! Please help!

Sure hope all goes great with your hatch. Do you plan on taking the chicks/ducklings? home afterwards?

Thank you! I hatch quails, chicks and ducks with my kiddos(they are pre-k/kinder special education) so we compare the length of time to hatch, size/color of eggs and compare the birds themselves in appearance, care ect. I hatch for other people,so many of my hatchlings go to waiting families who already have chickens/ducks/quails or would like to start. I keep some for myself as well..of course! This year I want to hatch some bantam cochins for myself and some friends. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!! Getting my bators up and running...on seems to have excess water(like dew) building up on the viewing window so thinking I may have a problem with that one...still learning!

You guys are amazing, thank you! This hatching has been one of the emotionally taxing things that wev'e faced. Nothing is worse than sitting in the other room while your baby sits in a half shell. Theres something that feels completely wrong about seeing a duckling like that. Like seeing a human baby hooked up to machines. It's down-to-your-core wrong. And we had very much lost hope on our clutch before we met Lacrystol. We were very sure that NONE, let alone 2 (and one in the bator) would survive! We were regretting our decision to get eggs instead of live chicks. She is a literal life saver!

She's still connected to her shell, with this weird cord from her butt. We didnt want to pull it off, but she was chirping up a storm last night. Kicked the shell off while Ryan was cleaning her. He got the poopie off her butt.
I wasnt able to effectively clean her very well last night. She was so weak and felt a bit cold so I wanted to get her into her bator as soon as possible. She's breathing perfectly fine. She's so much smaller than her brothers!

Hang in there!! You are in great hands and doing great!!! So STRESSFUL!!!!!!!

And don't give up on the hatching if you want more in the future! A hard as it is , you do learn more as you go and in my experience, each hatch becomes more successful.

Larcrytol told me to make a safety hole in Noodles, do you think that I should proceed with that or wait for her? I just candled the little one, and there is movement. But s/hes definitely breached. I'm afraid Noodles condition is the same as Marcos, where shes used the bathroom in shell. That has the potential to give them septic shock, doesnt it?

If you know how to do it safely and she said that is the next step, then yes you are probably ok to do so. She will probably be popping in to your thread soon...she is pretty good about that. You want to make sure that baby can breath and isn't being suffocated by the goo
