I have an ex battery hen that has been hunched over under the weather. Today she laid an egg with a difference, instead of a hard shell it was soggy and papery, but the yoke was the big thing, in the place of the yoke there was a purple ball, with a yellow stripe across one side, with purple veins all over it and a shriveld corn where it use to be attached to something

isolate her they will peck her behind. are you sure it was an eg because before one of my chickens intestines were coming out we put them back in because they were attched. but you need to take her to the eotics vets as soon as possible.

She has/had some internal issue going on. She is an ex battery hen so you don't know what her diet has been like or what she has been through. I would suggest giving her a high quality feed, make sure she has the appropriate calcium in her diet. This could be a one time occurrence or the start of some internal issues. Keep monitoring her for any issues. How has she been acting after she laid this egg?
