My quail snowdrake was in a wagon when it fell over and all the birds jumped out. I managed to grab them all, but snowdrake got under my foot and her head got stepped on. I realized mid step and took my foot back, but she still seems hurt. I weigh 115-120 pounds. Her beak has a crack and there was blood in her mouth. When i cleaned the blood out, none came back. One of her eyes is half open and the other is normal. Sjhe is panting a tiny bit. She is standing normally. When I touched the top and sides of her head, she doesn't really flinch, though she does if i touch her beak. I have her in front of my heater and I'm watching her. Please give me advice!

Oh No!

I'm sorry I don't know anything about quail. You may want to post in the quail forums as well.

My thoughts would be to keep her in a relatively warm and quiet place. I would assume the panting is from shock and/or injury. Make water available.

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in soon.

Thanks. it seems like the half open eye has sort of been pushed into her head. She doesn't seem too bad but I'm still scared. Thank ;(

coturnix, and she died. Not very surprised. I'm just glad she wasn't in pain very long :)
