Emergency Rescue help!

this definitely looks like bareback to me. how many drakes and hens do you have? i recommend at least 3 girls for every one drake, and anything less results in these types of injuries. definitely clean it (i use vetericyn when my birds get hurt). once the dirt is out treat it with triple antibiotics or neosporin to prevent infection. keep her isolated, but maybe put the pen close to the other ducks so she is not lonely. make sure that they cant fit their heads through the bars though, or else it wont heal.
increase protein while her feathers are growing, and she'll be fine in a few weeks.
The situation is that this duck is one of the many many ducks dumped at a local lake. Vickers wants to rescue her and perhaps another female for company, in order to treat her wounds and give her a break.

Sorry guys! I didn't mean to post without much explanation... But time was very limited and I wanted to get this girl in a quiet and clean environment. Sadly she evaded capture and I didn't want to stress her more than she already was.

I understand all of the things each of you have mentioned. I live in a part of Dallas that haas a huge duck dumping issue. And I noticed this girl two days ago. I wanted to grab her and her friend and treat the bloody wound on her neck keep them separate from my birds and possibly De-louse them.

We were being interviewed by a local station a out the dumping issue and it was a prime chance to take her in without the police on patrol making us stop. None of them want to be to be filmed stopping someone from getting her to a safe place.

Again, it didn't pan out, and I'm sorry for making people concerned for my own flocks safety. I just needed some help treating the wound on her neck. We have a serious problem at our lake.

These were taken this week..

It's an awful scene at White Rock lake. My friend Charles has been caring and rehabilitating these guys for the last 8 or more years. He doesn't get paid for doing this so he works hard as a self employed plumber..... And gives it all to these guys. EVERY. NIGHT OF THE WEEK.

In 2009 11 of the geese were used as target practice. They were snuck up on during the night and shot by a coward who left them to die slow agonizing deaths. Their bodies littered many different parts of the lake.

I had set up an interview by our local ABC stations morning show so Charles could tell his story and let people know that leaving birds here isn't ok.

There are birds with broken bills, bumblefoot, angel wing, wet feather, prolapsed penises, over mating drownings, and neurological issues all over sunset bay. These are only seeming to occur in the domesticated buffs, swedes, Muscovy, appleyards, Pekin, and runners...they are dying a little each day.

We cannot remove them by law. Once they have been placed at the lake try become the property of The City Of Dallas.

We are working in this...

OH my bless her heart, I've seen the drakes / gang before I had no idea so mean. I wish you super luck in rescue
I'm no duck pro at all, just getting her away in peace for awhile I know would do wonders.

Sad thing about Pekin unable to fly........ not fair.... Good Luck to you

Sad unable to click play to watch, last year Memorial weekend Plan great camping fun then Waking up to gun shots asking hubby what are they shooting
he said You don't want to know,(ducks) spoiled that trip the next morning the same, I just wanted to speak my mind to that dude and.......... and...... yeah right,
is like telling someone off while they are deer hunting you can't.

Makes me so ............. nothing I could do.

No camping there this year. I will never understand why it is so easy no compassion ?

Food? but letting little geese suffer .... any animal. Good Luck on the News thing it may just help.

I'm dealing with the same issues with a Pekin female at our lake. I have homes for her and she is usually friendly. However, she seems to know when I want to catch her and on the days I try, she doesn't let me. Most of the dumped domestic females die either their first or second breeding season there. She was dumped right at the end of last year's breeding season. We only have 1 other domestic female that survived this years breeding season. Her sister didn't. I think her sister was internally laying eggs on top of overbreeding.
