EMERGENCY!!!! Rooster with heat stroke?

Glad it sounds like your guy is doing better. Yay! I hope he makes a complete recovery; it sounds like you did a wonderful job. I, too, am grateful for all the people on here who are willing to share their knowledge & experience.

I'm glad that he's doing so much better!!!! Isn't it funny how we worry about our chickens? A little over a year ago i wouldn't have thought it possible to really care about a chicken.

Get a kiddie pool and fill it with about 2 inches of cool water every day.

Chicken will get in it if it gets really hot. Mine stand in the thing and cool off.

Guess I did not really put 2 and 2 together until you posted that you cooled your roo down by putting water on his legs.

I know there is a great deal of blood flow to their legs, waddles and combs.

There is also a place under their wings that has bard skin that they use to cool down. This is why you see them with there wings out and away from their bodies on really hot days.

Glad your roo is doing good !!!

I seem to recall reading that in humans, having heat stroke makes one more vulnerable to it in the future. You got some great advice here, and I hope he's doing well!
