Hello everyone, I came on here to ask for help for my poor rooster! I went out this morning seeing my easter egger rooster's ear covered in blood. A little of the blood was on his cheeks/muffs. Then I found out that one of his foot's nails had little blood on it too. I was very concerned, making me think that he scratch his ear with his foot's nail causing it to bleed. I'm not sure if I'm correct though. Please let me know if you know anything about this problem.

Thanks,

I would clean him up and find the injury causing the bleeding. More than likely, the blood on the toe is because he was scratching the injury.
He could have gotten a good peck from another bird. After you find and clean the wound, rub a little triple antibiotic ointment on it and he should be just fine.

Hello DobieLover, thank you for the tip! what type of triple antibiotic ointment should I use? Could I use the one by "Neosporin"? What I have handy right now by "Neosporin" is a First Aid Antibiotic Ointment. The Ingredients include Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfates and Bacitracin Zinc. Another question is I can just clean him with a wet paper towel right?

Thanks a lot,
Valerie

You probably can. I'd use a wet piece of cotton, it's softer. Make sure your paper towels aren't the anti-bac ones

Make sure your neosporin does not have pain relief!

Hello cherrynberry, thank you so much for helping out! I'm sure mine doesn't have any pain relief in it. But just incase, here is a picture of the "Neosporin" for you to look at!

Thanks,
Valerie

If you are not sure, it may be better not to use it. However, this is the original neosporin, so I am pretty certain it has not pain relief.
