So wouldn't you know it....My 6 yo daughter became ill a few days ago and it was determined yesterday afternoon that her appendix had perforated and she needed surgery to remove it. So we rushed from our small home-town hospital last night to the larger Pediatric hospital three hours away, and she was operated on this morning - all went well and she's doing well right so far.

...the rest of the story.....i got a call from my post master this morning while we're waiting to hear the results of the surgery...the eggs that i ordered earlier in the week arrived today and would i like to come pick them up? OH CRAP!

So luckily my mother is at my house looking after our son, and the incubator was already up and running. I was debating whether to ask her to try to keep them cool for a day or two until we got back home, but the docs tell us my daughter might be here for more like 5 or 6 days!

So tonight, via cell phone, while my daughter is recovering is the bed next to me....my husband is talking my mother through what she needs to do to add the eggs to the bator. I told her not to freak out - if something happens i wont blame her....but one of those eggs is the Special White Silkie that my daughter has been expecting and has already named 'snowflake'....no pressure there

So any advice and good wishes you can send them (my daughter AND my mother) would be appreciated

First and formost I hope your daughter is going to be ok. Your eggs should be fine as long as your hubby knows what he is telling her. My hubby does not have a clue on how to raise any animal. Let alone eggs. Prays and best wishes to you all. Please keep us updated.

I had two kids with the stomach flu the morning our baby chicks arrived at the post office from the hatchery.

Chicks happen.

I hope your little girl gets better quickly!

Well there will always be more silkie eggs. And I've learned that you never can tell if shipped eggs will make it anyway.

Glad your daughter is going to be ok!

My daughter = 98.5 Degrees ;The Incubator = 99.5 degrees. Holding steady and stable right where they are supposed to be:D
