I have a small flock they are 5 years old now and have been have problems for the last three months. The head bird is mean and is not letting the others eat or drink and they are being stressed. Two got sick and I am giving one iron to get her beefed up again. But now my husband has lost his job and we are going to have to downsize. I don't have a clue what to do with my flock; I would like to find a home at least for the best bird of them who is an Americauna and still lays regularly every other day or so green eggs. The mean bird I will probably put down.

Try putting feed in several locations. She can only guard one spot at a time.

If you would like to save money on feed, try doing Fermented Feed. When I changed to FF I noticed several benefits; 30% savings on feed cost, increased egg production, better shell quality, faster growth for chicks, faster molts, faster resumption of egg laying, better feather quality. (My hens are younger than yours, though)
