Yall I rescued I whole pen from someone. They were found up under a playhouse and they're all silkies, except one, she is a polish. I am currently giving one tylan 50, and treating for gapeworm. I'm not sure what it is.
She is flapping and gasping. The flapping is becoming more frequent, but the gasping is pretty often. I can calm her down just like you calm a baby and she can breathe a little better. She is not wheezing, my fiance said he heard a tiny one but just once and her nose and eyes are fine. She smells like baby powder. Which I find so weird, however shes just two. NONE of them are laying. I have 4 hens and 4 roos. I believe. I'm not sure at this point.

I'm so worn out mentally and emotionally from sick chickens. I need help, I need to get her better. Please tell me what yall think and what to do to get her better. I cannot stand to see her sick. I rescued them because they needed a better home.

What are you using for worms? Tylan is to treat mycoplasma (MG,) a chronic respiratory disease. MG symptoms are watery or foamy eyes, head shaking, sometimes swelling of the face, sneezing, and nasal drainage depending on the strain and severity. For gapeworm which is very rare, fenbendazole (SafeGuard, Panacur) give 1/4 ml per pound orally for 5 days. Chickens with gapes rarely can eat and drink due to gasping and labored breathing.

We've rescued several chickens with that so that's what we assumed it was...upon further inspection tonight, I found this and she can breathe when laying on her side and this thing is blocking her airway, well part of her airway which is why she is acting the way she is.
In the picture Sue's laying on he side and I have it pulled to the side of her beak with a qtip

I am not sure what that would be in her beak. Canker, a protozoan infection can be inside the beak, but it supposedly smells very bad. Wet fowl pox can be inside the beak and throat, but usually looks yellowish white. That looks like some sort of growth. @casportpony, @dawg53, @Wyorp Rock, or any others, can you have a look?

I'm not sure what to make of that.
A tumor is a good guess.

It's interesting that she smells like baby powder, I don't know what would cause that.

I agree with @Eggcessive if you have a vet that can see her that would be best.

It's nice that you have taken in birds that lived in less than ideal conditions and wanted to give them a better life. Sometimes when birds are re-homed like this they do have some type of problem that can't be fixed or cured. Even if you lose her, just know that she was able to feel loved and comforted. You are doing what you can for her:hugs

Its breaking my heart yall. I hate watching animals suffer. I may take her to the vet today after looking at multiple pictures last night, my fiance and I think it looks like a tumor. I am not sure how she'd get one in the back of her throat. It's pretty big too. If I take her to the vet today, I will be sure to keep yall updated.
