My chicks are almost 7 wks old and still inside the house. I've weaned them off the heat lamp and have them adjusted to daytime is for eating, drinking, and night time is lights out, sleeping, no food, no water and they are doing great. Now it's time for them to go out to the coop. We live in northern N.Y. and last night's low temperature was 29 degrees, do you think that situation would have been dangerous for them? I'd rather not supply them with the heat lamp in the coop and get them thrown off their day/night schedule. They've become part of the family, and I don't want anything to happen to them.

How they doing? They should be able to go out when they are fully feathered. I generally start by putting them out during the day for a week or two before leaving them out. They should sleep in a pile and keep each other warm at night.
