You should start a new thread asking for suggestions. He may be aggressive due to it being mating season. I have peafowl (peacocks, peahens). The males get very aggressive with each other during breeding season. They haven't with me yet but it could happen during that time of year. If your male has only been around humans then you are part of his flock. It's called "Human Imprint". He'll treat you like he would another Emu. Maybe it will change when mating season is over. I'm just assuming maybe Emu's mate the same time as Peafowl. DO BE CAREFUL. I would imagine they could really hurt a person. I'd keep children away from him. Have you watched the tv show "Fatal Attractions"? All kinds of stories of owners of animals they raised from babies turning on them doing serious bodily injuries or even death. Don't mean to frighten you but please be cautious especially with children. Might be a good idea to think about getting a female for him. It could help with his frustration. DON'T get a male. My peacocks get along wonderfully during off season but when that testosterone starts flowing they all want to kill each other. My birds are pets, tame and gentle but I'm extremely careful this time of year. I had 2 males start fighting. I bent down to protect my face as they were attacking each other on the ground and in the air. One of them slid across my back tearing my shirt and penetrating my skin. My husband had to doctor a 4" gash for a few days. They say never get in between 2 dogs fighting..... I can attest to the same with 2 peacocks fighting. I seperated them....they now fight through the fence. I'm amazed they haven't hurt their toes or feet. Will be soooooooooooooo happy when mating season is over and males once again get along.I have a male emu. We were given him from a family that lost their land and so I am learning as I go. We are having aggression issues with him. When we got him he was so sweet and my kids could lay down with him, but a few months ago a fox got in and got our rabbits who were housed right next to him. Since then we is hissing at us and growling and chasing us. Does anyone have any ideas how to tame him back down? We would really like to have fun with him again.
