Good news - I just got a beautiful emu egg from a friend.

Bad news - It's been sitting on his back porch for a couple weeks (he thinks). We're in Iowa but temps have been above freezing so I don't think that's a problem. However, he hasn't turned it or anything, it's just been sitting there.

More bad news - My one and only bator is full of 38 eggs that I just started Friday.

Good news - I'm pretty sure I know where I can borrow (or if worse comes to worse steal) one. I've waited too long for this egg to let a little thing like no bator stop me.

The dilema - I'm afraid with the no turning, age, etc. it's probably not good anymore. Do I just go ahead and go for it and keep my fingers crossed?????

I'd say go for it....BUT...you realize they are virtually un-candle-able...AND if it is rotten and explodes...that is gonna be ONE BBBADDDDD egg...right?

I had a guinea egg explode last year , and that by far, has got to be the worst thing ive ever smelled in my entire life. If i remember right Emu eggs take around 50 days to hatch?
