Emu Egg Hatch-along

Pics
You don't need to turn them any longer if you still are. I would take them out of the incubator and let them roll into their natural position and then place them back in exactly like they positioned themselves. This will allow the air cell to be in the proper place and the babies to work their magic and get into the right position to hatch. I ran a steady 97.5 Fahrenheit and this baby was the earliest I've ever had hatch late on day 50!
I did just have them out and noticed they rolled on their own
Then I could feel the cooler air cell dipping up higher on the side facing up
I left them in position

What kind of bottom does your incubator have? I usually like to put down shelf liner.
I use that in all my bators for all my birds I hatch

Thank you
I have been
I love talking to them
Don't you just love when they wiggle in response to your voice? So neat!

You are at Day 47 now? You should start to notice the egg tilt leveling out as the chick gets into proper position over the next few days. I start putting the air cell end to my ear a few times a day around day 49 and tapping/talking to it to see if the chick has internally pipped. I can usually start hearing tapping from the inside and scratchy sounds. If it has internally pipped you will hear the chick peep back. It's so cool! They have about 3 days worth of air so do be concerned if it takes longer than you think it should. I've never had it take that long though.

I have been very excited since the first wiggle
But just as nervous now at hatch as I don’t want to loose them
They gave nice strong wiggles yesterday I just hope I did everything correctly
My two big babies are my everything
River will be 1 in a few days and breeze will be 1 in June
They know they are loved 🥰
Both give actual hugs

Thank you for sharing that video. That is just about the cutest thing watching them hug you. You've done such an amazing job raising them. I hope if I end up keeping these babies I'll have friendly amazing emus just like you!

I spend a lot of time with them ;)
If they even hear my door open from 400 feet away they run to the gate to see if I’m coming
They both have such different personalities
Breeze is more if I don’t feel like it I’ll walk away
She is also the one who gets river going to chase the cats
But when she does decide she wants affection she gives it to you fully :). River never turns down hugs and back scratches
He doesn’t start attack mode on the cats but the second he sees breeze react he is in there immediately to protect breeze
I had to move the cats from the barn into the feed shed so they didn’t have to try to get past 10 geese and 2 emus 😂
They don’t mind my dog in daylight but I did learn not to let her in at night when it gets dark to lock up
They can’t see it’s her just something moving that shouldn’t be there and they go after her
In the day she is in and out with them no issues
They even share treats together
I use to worry about coyotes with my geese and turkeys and after I saw the reaction to my dog at night
I’m no longer worried
