They don't have back toes? I would love to have an emu. I never show chickens fear, but I think I would show an emu fear, then it would kill me.

And there’s no hope in trying to outrun them…They don't have back toes? I would love to have an emu. I never show chickens fear, but I think I would show an emu fear, then it would kill me.
Ohh ok cool. I looked into getting an extender for my goslings but never ended up buying one. Would have been helpful but oh well, haha.I have a Nuture Right with an extender I bought to make it taller and an air circulating styrofoam one. I have read it's better to go lower on humidity than too high. I do shoot for 30 if I can keep it there.
Yes, the egg was stinky. My dog detected it one morning before I even opened the incubator she was over there sniffing around the area and when I opened it I could tell what she was sniffing at! Rule of thumb never remove an egg until it stinks or it's well past due. Obviously, with other eggs you can see when one quits or never developed.
Until they start leaning, it's hard to tell where the air cell side is. They're often very uniformly shaped and don't have an obvious flat side.
If you don't get a hatch and I get too many you can always make a road trip to Colorado
The eggshell DNA test is around $17 per test.
Yes I check for wiggles and lean and warmth pretty much every day starting around day 28. I just can't help myself. It's very addictive! My first hatch is due starting the week if 2/8 or after. I CAN'T WAIT FOR EMU SNUGGLES AND WHISTLES!!

15% to 20% loss is acceptable over the course. I note 15, 17, and 20% weights on my spreadsheet just for reference.Weights last night at 2 weeks. Not bad, #1 is just still losing fast. #2 is behind a bit probably because of me bumping up the humidity. I guess I'll just keep it back in the 30s like week 1 and try not to worry about #1's weight. I don't want to compromise #2 because of it.

I have now had 2 stinkers. One was around day 28 and the other about day 20. I opened them both and the day 28 had no development, but the day 20 had a dead embryo. Sad! Tiny feet, beak and huge embryos eye balls!Ohh ok cool. I looked into getting an extender for my goslings but never ended up buying one. Would have been helpful but oh well, haha.
I'll definitely keep these guys in. How long did it take to start stinking? I check mine every day when I'm turning them.
I never knew how round they were. So funny.
Hahaha! Perfect
Colorado is far but my best friend lives there and comes out sometimes. She's in Colorado Springs. Do you just sell any extras?
Oh that's pretty good. Good to know. 28 days is so far. They're on day 15 now
Wow that's soon! So exciting! I'd love to hear updates on how yours are doing and pics too. Then at least if mine don't hatch we'll still all get some cute pictures!
Dawwww I love them![]()
Aww that's too bad. Hopefully you have a good hatch on the rest!I have now had 2 stinkers. One was around day 28 and the other about day 20. I opened them both and the day 28 had no development, but the day 20 had a dead embryo. Sad! Tiny feet, beak and huge embryos eye balls!
