If you look at FarNuffFarm on Instagram, you'll find a ton of videos of Fred and the babies - a lot of dancing emu chicks doing their crazy hops and throwing themselves to the ground leaping back up - the first video post-hatch was Jan 25, 2024. If you're not on Instagram I can put some more up on YouTube. I don't run a channel or anything, I just upload to share some here.

When I knew we were close, I’d walk out and check on him regularly and whistle. One morning I whistled and Fred about jumped out of the nest - a chick peeped back and was wiggling under him

3 weeks today finally! This past week has gone by so slowly, lol. If they are indeed fertile and take about 52 days, they have 31 days left. Egg #1 is just losing a lot of weight. Egg #2 is perfect. I'm pretty sure I calculated this for 15% weight loss.
Today's weights are circled

Also egg #2. Looks like it has a bit more of a tilt maybe? Air cell end I'm assuming is the right higher side.

Day 49.... the wait is almost over. Emu hatching is for real. I sympathize with @MGG with 30 days or so to go, but honestly the last week is pure torture. All the weeks of waiting, turning, and watching for wiggles comes down to the last few painstaking, even LONGER days of waiting. Lol. I am being a bit dramatic.

So I thought we should have a little fun with it. I was checking my three eggs yesterday that are about to hatch and I was asking them who was going to hatch first and the egg labeled C started dancing wildly as it were answering me, jumping up and down with it's tiny non-wing in the air saying "Me, me, me, I'll be the first one out!"

I have Baby B, Baby C, and Baby D who are wiggling. I also have 1 more egg, Baby F, that would be hatching with this batch, but I have seen ZERO signs of life so I do not expect it to hatch. It has stayed in because in is not stinking or oozing.

So cast your vote on which Baby I will get to snuggle first!!

Hey there - as we prepare to embrace new hatchlings on this forum, here is the start of Fred's playlist. I reached my upload limit for the day but I have lots more to come from hatch to teenage babies!

Hahaha! I can't wait to see your babies! Hopefully it all goes well. I'm going to guess C since he thinks he'll hatch first too! Are they all on the same day?
