Emu Egg Hatch-along

Pics
My final two eggs arrived in the mail today! They didn’t hold for pick up at PO 😒 but I was able to meet the mail carrier and get the box from them so it wasn’t thrown onto my porch. They are resting and coming to room temp right now before I add them to the incubator. Egg #5 starting weight is 584 g and egg #6 starting weight is 598 g. These eggs have a chance at being standard color or blonde. Picture of them with a regular sized olive egg, and a bantam blue egg 😅

Yikes! Help! I think my emu eggs are losing weight too fast!

I weighed my 4 eggs today. #1 started 648 g. Now 632 g. It has lost 16 g and (if I calculated correctly) should have lost 13 g.

#2 started 648 g. Now 631 g. It has lost 17 g and (if I calculated correctly) should have lost 13 g.

Both #3 and #4 are on day 6. The g they should have lost is based off of 7 days so they are also losing too much, as they are above the 7 day target on day 6.

#3 started 467 g. Now 456 g. It has lost 11 g and (if I calculated correctly) should have lost 9.3 g.

#4 started 481 g. Now 471 g. It has lost 10 g and (if I calculated correctly) should have lost 9.6 g.

What should I do?? Increase humidity? I have had it mostly around 37% humidity - which I was worried was too high. But there have been a couple of times where the water jar dried up and it dropped down to 20% for a few hours. I guess that is probably what caused this! Can losing weight too fast indicate anything (ie rotten or non developing egg??)

Try not to worry. I think that's why more experienced hatchers don't bother weighing. Did you do the rates for 17% and 20% to for reference? One of my babies that hatched was supposed to lose 13.5 g per week at 15% and it was always closer to 16 or 17 g per week. It lost 17% total during incubation.

My incubators are never good at humidity. Mine was closer to 20 to 30% during the entire incubation. They say shoot for 35%.

@MGG how is your egg doing ? @Strawberry74 how is the special egg doing , any movement?

@MGG still no wiggles? What day is your egg on now?

@MGG where are you? What's the scoop on your egg?

Sorry everyone! Leaving on a work trip to Ohio on Tuesday morning early so I've been crazy busy getting packed and all of the animals ready. My egg is still in but I've not seen anything at all positive from it. Today is day 50. I can't believe how long it's been. It's not stinking and shockingly is spot on with 15% weight loss. It's been exact every week which is so weird. I don't think it's alive though. I'll be shocked if there was ever any development honestly. But I don't know. How long should I leave it in for? Like I said I'll be gone for the next week, so not sure what to do with it. I'd have for it to start stinking like crazy and mess up my incubator.
