My 2 emu eggs were 71 days old today. I hoped maybe they were behind due to some cold snaps that made the incubators temp drop to about 90 for a few nights.
I have one small egg and one large. I decided today to crack the smaller lighter one open assuming they were both duds. To my surprise their was a fully developed chick with some yolk sac left. There was no bad odor but their was no movement or sign of life of the chick. So I was wondering if anyone could give me advice as to whether he was dead in the shell or still developing. I feel pretty bad but really had no way to tell if the egg was viable. I heard no pipping, movement etc. Is it safe to say the larger egg must have perished as well?
Thank you for any advice.
