Ok, Emu folks - Have you ever experimented to see if a good broody hen would incubate an emu egg? I know they take a pretty good long while to hatch, but I've had hens that were broody for just about that long before and they were fine. Also, the incubation temperature is a little different (lower than chicken). If you have tried this, what was your experience?

I have never done it, but that would have to be a pretty big broody hen to sit on a emu egg.... i have blown out ones i use to carve..... pretty big. Ouch for the hen that sits that!!!! LOL

have u ever read the book called the cuckoo child by dick king smith its abou a boy who uses a goose to hatch a ostrich chick for him so i guess you could use a goose
