KnockKnock, the emu chick previously spoiled rotten

by The Warden, is in need of a halter for use with a leash/lead. If you've trained your emu to walk on a lead, what do you use for a halter? We take daily walks on our property and KK always comes when called, but I'd really like to try a halter.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Good suggestions! I'm quite challenged when it comes to tying knots. Actually, I tie GREAT knots, the problem lies in trying to untie them later

I had forgotten that I have a couple of dog harnesses that might work. When in doubt... Ask a BYCer!

Hey Eve, Love the name KnockKnock! We named ours Mary Catherine Gallegher, Stuart and PeeWee. They are an absolute hoot! Mary Catherine follows me wherever I go and panics if she can't see me. The two that I think are boys are a bit more independent. I sat down on the dirt outside the barn today and let Mary Catherine climb all over me. The two boys had gotten under the deck and couldn't figure out how to get out so MC and I had some quality time. They are so friendly and sweet right now and waaaaaay too curious. They trashed the barn a couple of days ago. They picked up every box of screws and nails they could find by the lids and dumped the contents on the floor. It was quite a mess. I am going to try to get some new video tomorrow.

I would love to see pictures of KnockKnock! Mary Catherine was eye level with me when I was sitting on the ground with her. She just about lost her mind the other day when Michael's daughter came over in sandals and bright pink toenails. I can't wait to get them DNA tested so I know what I have. I am very impatient that way.

Hi Mary! So glad to hear that your babies are doing well! Mary Catherine (love the names) sounds a lot like KK. He follows me everywhere and has escaped out of two pens to be near us when we're working outside. AJ and I will sit about 50 - 100 ft apart while KK runs back and forth between us. If I'm outside alone, KK sits right next to me with his head resting on me. We take frequent walks on the property, exploring. Im often treated to the "I'm a crazy emu dance". He's living outside with my flock of blue Ameraucanas for now. My neighbor is giving him a young goat for a buddy; someone to keep company with.

I want to have a DNA test done also... I still refer to KnockKnock as a "he". I'm delighted with KK, boy or girl. Have you looked into getting the test done? The when, where, how... if you have any info to share I'd live to pick your brain!

How're all the other critters (oh, and family!) doing?
~Eve
