I went to close up the bird shed and found my male Emu dead on the floor.

I do not know why cause he was running around all day with the female in the rain and mud.

The female look fine so far so I don't think it was an illness. I am thinking he ate the shavings and they got caught in his throat. That is all I can think of right now. But I also must push forward cause I still have the female who is now alone. My 2 Emus were hatched out in spring of this year so they are not a year old yet. I am starting this hatching thread for anyone who wants to participate. Here you can post your weight losses each week and we can help each other with this years hatchings.

Anyone else incubating emu eggs?
 
These are the first hatching emu eggs.
First week set 20 % humidity so did loss more weight.
Next week increasing the humidity to 45 - 50 % and decreasing the air speed.
