My emu egg should be here tomorrow or Wednesday! I am super stoked. I cannot find who I got my egg from, but it was from someone on here that posted an ebay link. I snagged that last egg up and cannot wait to start cooking it!

I do have a valid question, I was only able to get one egg as it was the only one left. Do emus need other emus to be totally happy? Or will they be fine flocking up with other animal companions?

There are still eggs for sale on Ebay if you want to buy more. I like a pair but if just one egg hatches then it is a single chick and you try to hatch another one next year LOL

Even though I have been reading through all the posts here, past and present, I have found that on the first 24 hours of incubation that my egg has only lost 4 grams. It started at 657 and today is ONLY 654. I have read that my humidity may be to high and to decrease it. I did not need to add any water to my incubator because 38% to 40% humidity is what it is normally without doing anything at all. My egg should have lost 1.9 grams today. How do I decrease the humidity in my incubator?

Hi all,I had a emu hatch this morning, but he just keeps shivering, I have put him under the heat lamp, he was pretty strong in the beginning, now all he is doing is sleeping, is this normal for them? Should he be standing up by now? Or is the poor little guys just so exhausted?

what is the temperature where you are keeping it? Emu chicks often take a day to stand up for any period after they hatch. They exert a lot of energy during the hatching process and need lots of rest. Sometimes the emu is "heavy" from a large unused internal yolk sac, this will also delay them becoming active for a day or so....

97.5 at 30% humidity. He weighs a little over a lb. He does feel very heavy, he has been sleeping most of the day, a little chirp and head bob here and there. Thank you for replying.

Yeah, My baby emu that hatched a week ago couldn't really, firmly, stand for a whole 2 days. After he hatched, All he did WAS sleep lol. He is now very healthy and running around, here are a couple pics

I am on day 37 with my egg, and here is a video of the wiggles. I love the egg so much. I know, that sounded strange. But it moves and shifts and all of that so I love it
