I had 2 good emu eggs that were due Saturday April 16th. One hatched on time buy now it's Monday and the other still hasn't hatched. It was chirping and I took it out to listen. I accidentally dropped it and the end cracked off. I can see the baby, its nose is sticking out. Should I assist? Has anyone ever had this happen? I don't have any idea what to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This is the best one I have.

If the chick is alive it may take hours to come out of the egg. This is a natural process and you should allow it to work it’s way out. But keep an eye on it to make sure it’s managing on its own. Google it there’s lot of information out there. Best of luck.

You need to make sure the membrane doesn't dry out. If it does, you can put coconut oil on it. I'm seeing blood so it's entirely possible that some of the blood vessels were damaged. Do you know if the yolk is absorbed? If he is yawning or making chewing sounds he is still absorbing the yolk. I wouldn't help yet but keep an eye on him.

I can't hear any chewing sounds but it does keep opening its mouth. Its also still chirping from time to time. I'm not sure about the yolk though.
