I just bought 2 1/2 week old emus and want a boy and a girl but have no idea which is which, I know you can send feathers or something somewhere for a 100% guarantee of sex, but I don't know how or where to send it. Does anyone know?

I don't have emus myself, so hopefully someone with experience can either confirm or correct me, but from what I've read the emus have to be 4 months to use the feathers (http://aea-emu.org/node/109) but you could still do blood. Also, you should be able to tell the gender by looking at the feather pattern. The male has a bullseye pattern while the female is more random (the previous link has a couple pictures). I found this place that you could send a blood sample to: http://www.avianbiotech.com/SexingCenter.htm

Feather pattern is an inaccurate way to sex. I have a female who had a bullseye pattern. I sent feathers in to avian biotec... get on their website and you can order kits for free. Daryl the emu was about 2 months old when I sent her feathers in. As I recall, there is no particular age but they did want "adult" feathers. Not the fuzzy stuff.
