Morning, 66vette.

That’s good good news! Keep Emoo under observation. Stay a part of this community, and teach and learn. The good thing is that, because your birds are pets, you can examine them and minister to them. (My birds are tame-wild, 66. I can’t handle them. It’s super frustrating when they have problems.)

Vette, I am an oddity here, the only BYC person with tame emus. (I live in a farmhouse in the forest in south-west Western Australia.) My knowledge of Where You Are At At This Second is zilch.

However, yes: these birds turn upon and kill any weak bird. ‘Nature red in tooth and claw,’ Vette. (Tennyson)

They are, in the wild, in a state of almost permanent violent competition.

Hi....don't use.peroxide in the eye....you can use saline but peroxide can hurt the eye. Apply some neosporine to and around the eye...its an antibiotic and will keep.the eye lubercated . Yes....Emu can peck at each others eyes.....eyes are shiny..Emu like shiny.things......good to separate the injured one till its eye heals. I would keep the younger ones separated from the older ones till they are able to run and play and defend himself a little from the older....but if you can allow them to be with in.sight of each other it will help the introduction later....Best wishes

Thanks everyone for the replys I had to go and put them back togather where I had the other one it starting to rain and there was water coming in? I hope he leaves her alone tonight and don't pick at it? the eye is looking good it's open and all? I just don't want to take any change in him picking at it? hope they sleep tonight and tomorrow I can put him back in the barn. what makes thes birds so dumb I a have a heat lamp bulb in the burn and he would not get under it with the pine and the light looks like they would want to get where it's warm? out in the pin I have a 12x12 with a wood dog house in it with a 120 bulb.well I have to go out in the even ant put them in there .if I don't they will bed down behind it?and will not get in it.thats the crazys thing I have ever seen.lol

Thanks
