When picking up our Emu feed from the Feed store DH met someone who keeps Emus and he said we should innoculate our birds against Encephelitis , he explained that last year he lost most of his flock to this disease. We went back to the store and purchase Encephalitis vaccine for horses. Foolishly we forgot to ask if the dosage is right for the Emus. Considering the size difference between a horse and the birds what do we do?

Is there a phone # on the medicine that you can call to ask this question?

Yes the dosage is the same. Vaccines do not need to be dosed differently for most animals. That is why a full size horse and a mini horse get the same amount. I vaccinate for EE WE & west nile here in Fl with the emu as well as horses. Don't forget to worm them too through out the year. [IMG]
