D*#@........First of all, he was trespassing! Next he was stupid.... These people are taking this stuff too far!!! And we wonder why our kids are the most over weight in the world! Well if you can't let them be kids and do what kids have done for thousands of years, guess what..........you get over weight kids that are scared to do anything for fear that some idiot will jump them for something stupid. Heck, I remember riding in the back of my grand-fathers truck almost every weekend, wading in creeks with no adults within a mile of us, walking miles to go fishing with my buddies, and fences were something to be climbed( not somehting to hold me in)! What is wrong with people? My parents were very good parents and I grew up to turn out pretty good(or at least I think so). We are raising a whole generation of wimpy, over-weight, scared to do anything kids. WAKE UP America!
Or, you can keep wondering why our kids are depressed or having to go to therapists and are not ready for the REAL world when they get out in the REAL world!
Hey CPS.......my step son shoots his rifle on my land, climbs trees, plays with goats, goes fishing......what are you gonna do? Not a D*#@ thing..........he's on my property and you will get your butt kicked off quick.

I can't believe it! not one person telling me it was a bad idea to let him play there. when I told my husband about it, I started out by saying, "so I was out at the apple tree yesterday and I was letting Cyphar throw rocks into the ditch and..." Okay there i go too...
you eeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvviiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllll person, how could you let him play there with out proper saftey equipment, medics on standby and the coastguard in the ditch to pull him out. Nawwww you did good.As a six year old i ran through the woods , in the creek drove my bike all alone down the road and there was no bike lane. Whooooohooo CPS where were you then?

You need to get out there ASAP and take pictures with him there and with a yardstick showing the depth, and also show the distance you were from him (maybe use another person to stand in for him). You need to have photographic evidence of the "dangerous situation". If they come out after a severe rain and use those pics as "evidence" and it is flowing, you could be in trouble. Video might be good, as well. Just to "cover your butt". I hate this for you. Had to deal with it, before, myself. A neighbor's friend didn't like me and reported us to DHS/CPS for bruising on her legs. We had to go through all the mess, and the police showed up while she was getting ready for soccer. They shook their heads and left. The caseworker still had to come and do all the paperwork, but nothing else ever came of it.

Maybe you should see if any complaints have been filed against him.

cps really burns me up! i've had a couple run-ins with those people. that is just horrible. you should probably wrap your kid up in bubble wrap next time you take him out and get him a bodyguard too. the guy must not have met his "i ruined someones life" quota for the month yet. oh and they love if you ask if they have a warrant. they always say they don't need one. just keep your cool if they come back. i have a big "failure to cooperate with investigation" mark on me. i got a letter a week or so later after they tried to get in that said it had been dropped. i then wrote my congressmen about how bogus it is that they can investigate something that is legal in our state. oh well, that's why we moved to the country. i also slapped a big sign on my door stating our 4th amendment rights along with the two other laws i was not breaking. sorry this happened to you. even if nothing happens i think it is still scary.

We had a case with a 15 year old who called CPS (DHS here) because he got mad at his dad when his dad wouldn't let him do something stupid and they got in a fight. The case went to court. The dad told the judge he would do exactly the same thing again. Dad said he would control the kid now or let the system control the kid later in jail. The judge went off on the kid. Kid went back home and was told his father would control him by any means necessary or he would be sent to juvenile detention. End of story. Go Judge!!

That's a little paranoid on the social worker's part, though, isn't it? We have a little stream in our woods, I go out there to photograph all the time.
