End of a soap opera era

EweSheep, your statement is interesting, glad to see them gone, but something you and your mom did together, a part of your life way back when.

Yes, we have our mom/daughter moments, I would not trade them for the world. However, today, Mom no longer watch soapies, neither did I because the drama kept repeating itself from time to time with different characters and it was BORING!

As far as I know, I think one soap opera is on for right now, maybe two. My pet peeve, they kept postponing the dramatic downfall on a Friday, or a baby being born on a Friday, or someone getting married or screwed on a Friday......on and on. Get a life, drama writers!

I think soap opera has been going on in the late 50's to 60's...All my children, or as the World Turns was the oldest. Not positive but I do know they existed in the 70's because that is the earliest I remember seeing it with the babysitter, she always watched it.

I think the highlight of my soapy memories was Luke and Laura in the 70's when they were on the run. Even my hubby at the time would watch it at lunch where he worked.

Had to revive this thread....

For those who watch B&B, I was shocked to see Ridge Forrester in such gaunt appearance. I remember him being so youthful!

Is he sick or some kind of cancer?

I miss "All My Children" especially since the last episode was so unsatisfying. "The Chew" is a truly awful show. I've tried watching it a few times - but it hasn't gotten any better. I used to watch AMC to relax after work - and then as an early afternoon break after I retired. Anyway - nothing I can do about it. AMC is the only soap opera I ever watched. So I can't help you with B&B or any other one.

My mom always watched them and I hated them cause she made us do all the work so she could sit and watch them all day. I never watched them cause I thought they were stupid anyway. But I love the old b & w horror movies!!

I used to watch B & B at my mother in law's house when I went there for lunch (I was pregnant with horrible morning sickness, and she made me soup every single day, bless her heart). I've only caught an episode here and there for the last six years, like if one of the kids was home sick. The last episode I saw, I was truly horrified to see Ridge's appearance. He does look really bad.
