I ended up with 49 chicks (I think) and a Pekin duckling in this weeks hatch.
I need to count again and get pics, because there are 2 blue silkie-ish chicks that aren't accountable by the 'empty-shell count'.
Good luck everyone!
Ok I either have 12 of 12 or the next 3 hatch since I have 3 more now. I am thinking it is the next 3 so that hatch was 3 of 3. The that piped was of this bunch. So we shall see if last two hatch then I will know I was wrong. That would make all eggs hatched so far if last two hatch.
This is my one gosling, hatched May 4th, in my Brinsea Octagon 20. The second egg quit near the end of incubation
so I had to go to the feed store and buy the baby a companion. Both the duckling and gosling were adopted by a teenaged Blue Andalusian pullet that had also taken over raising some feed store chicks, and they are currently all living blissfully together in the dog run (with occasional supervised visits with the other free-ranging fowl).
So my first ever hatch was due on Sat (28th) and started hatching on Thurs (26th) and continued thru Friday, only one hatched on the 21st day.
Out of 18 set and 3 tossed at candling, I had 14 out of 15 hatch! Not too shabby!
The one that didn't hatch was the darkest BCM egg so maybe I couldn't see it well when I candled it? Anyway, this was a very cool experience.
