Well thank you Kuvasz. It was fun putting it all together and it's still new and will blossom in time.

Has there been a decission or any idea when the "deadline" is? I think i'm missing a lot by not reading every thread and post!!!!

Nice design and well thought out to make the job easier. It all should help you make the daily routines efficient.

I had to make three temporary coops out of scrap containers from a local factory. I am making a combination coop/man cave shed and upper loft playhouse for me kids. I might not be finished in time for the contest.

Ok, I made it! My 'hoop coop' is DONE!

Ok, ok, it's actually been done for over a week now, but everything conspired against me to update my page and pics until today.

I revamped the entire page, changing larger images to clickable thumbnails even.

Here it is! https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=88409-ki4gots-small-coop

All-told
, I spent under $50 for the materials, using things I already had on hand in part.

I'm still working on a pvc pipe feed/water system but that's another project and story entirely.

Loved looking at all the other coops. There are some great ideas out there.

Nice it's something like I'm building for a community project.

A suggestion towards your statement "The top comes off easily enough to fill the feeder, but eventually I want to cut an access door on the back for collecting eggs. " Reverse the top. Your chickens can duck under and have access to the "coop" and you can add a wooden hinged flap on the top opening for collecting eggs.

I'll find a link for you that shows what I'm talking about.

ETA-- Here you go!

If you look at my original plans that was part of it, but this dog house won't sit that way... I did try putting it that way before the chicks went into it, and one rain storm flooded the bottom half. yes, it has holes to drain but the bedding was soaked.

so I'll just cut the top and be done with it... I have another dog house top (the bottom part was broken and thown away) I'm going to use so the parts overlap to keep water out, then i'll put a sealing strip around to keep water from coming in when it rains.
