English Chick/Jamie Oliver question

The water should be boiled from the kettle and not in a microwave too. It tastes better when boiled from the kettle.

One would only boil water in a kettle for tea..did not realise that people would boil water in a microwave....

I have to admit that I use my microwave for my morning cuppa with atea bag in it

but I do have a tea pot and if I am serving tea to friends I use a kettle and loose tea...I once had tea in Vancover BC Canada at a wonderful old hotel there and had clotted cream and scones and cucumber sandwiches and other wonderful yummy things that I have always read about in books...It was wonderful...my favorite teas are earl grey and English breakfast

I am guilty of boiling my tea water in the microwave before I dump my tea bag in it. I like them lightly brewed, not the strong stuff like the English Breakfast, its too strong for my taste. I like sugar in my tea. I tried it with milk and it was strange....maybe its due to accustomed tastes.

I must admit, some folks dont know how to brew tea....imagine the taste of muddy water or dishsoap tea?????

I enjoyed your BBS series, Last of the Summer Wine....now, if Compo and his buddies shows up on my door, I would serve them tea with milk!

I almost always put milk in my tea, even into tea where you're not supposed to put milk - like Earl Grey and Lady Grey. I just prefer it that way as does my friend whose mother is English. So,

on tradition.

Constant Comment is my tea of choice. I LOVE IT. No milk, thank you, and my grat grandmother is rolling over in her English grave right now.

ewwwww Tea without milk and sugar....unheard of!.....Admit to liking strong tea though.....but am having a cofffee at the moment.....

Hello from Old Blighty again!! We've been away from the PC for 3 days; but have been watching a disturbing amount of foodTV here. :0

Jamie Oliver was one of the chefs who has been instrumental in the "Chicken Out" movement which wants to convert all chicken meat production in England to free range. I certainly hope they suceed and I have a lot of respect from them for that... even if Sainsbury's sellls farmed salmon.

I drink my coffee black and used to drink my tea straight as well. But, it so confuses people here that I didn't want milk and sugar, that I've just given in and drink it "normal" now. It's just simpler that way.

I'm just not a big fan of milk in general and warm milk does even less for me. But, I just grin and bare it to streamline the tea operations here.
