Enough ventilation? Too much?

At first I thought it was too much ventilation as we are heading into the cooler months....but now I'm not sure. Coop is 6 x 4 and the gap at the top is about 1.5" all the way across. I plan to make a A-frame to reduce wind through the door, but it will pull a breeze I'm sure. Will the door be a problem if I partially block the wind? Is the height of the roost, cocompared to the gap at the top, going to be an issue? 4 hens for the winter is the plan.

Unless it's absolutely disgustingly cold where you're at (you don't mention your location or climate), there's really no such thing as too much ventilation. My coop is open air on 3 sides and my chickens were fine through a couple weeks of snow and the heaviest rainfall in years afterwards. I did use plastic panels to over some of the open areas to help keep the chickens dry, but the majority of the sides remained open.

Sorry...Im in Ontario Canada...not too far from cottage country. Average temps through Jan-Feb are minus 10-15 Celsius but can reach minus 30C for a few days at a time. Also lake effect snows and crazy west winds. Coop will be moved to the east side of another building and i plan to partially wrap the attached run in clear plastic.
