No, it isn't, unless you have a special case where the bird is ill, injured, or aggressive to other birds for example. Chickens at their core are social animals and need a flock to really thrive. Humans can stand in for other chickens in a pinch but we are not chickens and we can't satisfy their instinctual and social needs. Even if we study their behavior and try to replicate it to the best of our ability to make them feel more comfortable, we aren't going to get it exactly right because they are so complicated.I agree. The people in this forum are always saying that you need at least 2 or more birds. This is completely B.S.
A natural chicken is a happy chicken. A lone chicken is not natural. An indoor chicken is not natural (though, as stated in this thread, it can work. It just takes so much extra effort that you need to be 100% dedicated to, for the health and wellbeing of everybody inside).
