This morning when I went out to feed the ducks our little runner duck was limping and tucking her foot up. After inspecting it I found a large swollen bumble. I gave her a soak in Epsom, sprayed with vetericyn, applied antibiotic ointment and wrapped it in gauze and vet wrap. I have some Enrofloxacin 22.7 mg tablets that were prescribed for my cat. I am wondering since she is limping so badly and lying down a lot from the pain if I should give her antibiotics by mouth? What would the dosage be? I haven't weighed her yet but she is a tiny duck. Has been since the beginning. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. She's all bandaged up now so I'll try to get some tomorrow.

What I do for my ducks is I cut open the foot and and squeeze the kernel out of the foot and then I put gauze and vet rap on the open cut and rap it! And then I leave it on for three to four days and then take it off and check on it. Hope this will help.

Yeah, E. should be effective against a Staph infection.

According to @casportpony, the dose is about 4.5 mg/pound twice a day. This was 2015, so the dose might have changed since then.
Yeah, that seems to be what most vets prescribe.

Note that the cat dose is only 2.27 mg per pound per *day*, so they get much less than poultry.

"Serious Side Effects
While extremely rare, a small percentage of cats treated with Baytril go blind. The drugs damages the cat's retina. This particular side effect is irreversible. Because of the seriousness of this particular side effect, most vets are extremely careful regarding Baytril dosages. "
