Entering lockdown!!!!

February 25th around 11am.

I would not be surprised if I'm a bit delayed. The first day I set the eggs, my temps did not reach the right temp. My temps were stabilized a few days prior to setting the eggs but once I put the eggs in, the temps never got back to where they should have been. I'm giving my self an extra day because of that. I am figuring they got a bit of a slow start.

Good luck!!!!

Well..I woke up to some very loud peeping this morning! The egg that pipped first hatched early this morning!! It's a little BLRW and is adorable! I'll try to get pics later on today. I have to go to work in a little while

and wont be home the rest of the day..might have to take a long lunch and come home to check on my fuzzy baby! The 2nd egg that pipped has made a bigger hole and I can see it now. I figure it'll be hatched by the end of the day. I'm sooo excited! So far so good! Only 5 pips to go!

How exciting!!! I've got nothing yet

When I put my ear to the bator, sometimes I think I hear a random *tap*. If I look closely, sometimes I think I see an egg wobble ... one in particular.

Today is Day 18 for me. I sat my eggs at around 3 o clock. What does that mean, should they all be hatched by 3 on day 21 or what?
You guys talking about them peeping and wiggling makes me so excited. I am going to try to leave my broody completley alone until i hear some peepers!

I don't believe that the set time means they'll be hatched by that time. There are some variables that can affect the hatch times. There are several of us that set on the same day, at different times. I'm using the times to compare what I'm seeing/hearing from my eggs. I'm kind of anticipating a delayed hatch because my temps weren't as high as they should have been the first day. The temps dropped when I put my eggs in and just never got back up.

I'm hoping for something ... anything ... to happen so that I know they are all ok! I hate that I can't candle them to look at them!

OK I understand. I thought I might have missed something with the times.
I know I cant hardly stand it I want to pick them up and look at them and get them out of there!! I bought 12 chickies yesterday from TSC and that will help keep my mind off of the new babies, they are closer to the house than the Hens, I hope it works.

My staggered hatch in one bator is going well.

Due on the 16th....... 15 Japanese Bantams. As of this morning I had 14 hatch.

Due on the 17th...... 10 Silver Phoenix. I here peeping but no zipping yet.

Due on the 19th...... 10 RIR. Nothing yet.

I think the staggered hatch works as long as everyone is due to hatch within a couple of days from one another. How you would enter lockdown with one group and keeping turning another, I'm not sure how that would work, humidity would be an issue too.

This may be a hard question to answer....

How hard is it to hear them peep? I think I hear a random *peep* but it's always a singular peep. It could be the styrofoam or some other household noise... or me hearing things!

The first little peep I heard was very very quiet. I thought it was a bird outside. I had to put my ear to the incubator to really hear it well. It got gradually louder though.

Was it random peeps or was it going peep-peep-peep? I just hear a random peep. Very faint even up close.

Oh gosh! I'm so not going to be able to stand being away. Will one of you come and keep an eye on my chicks?
