Lots of retirees or near retirees hang out over at The Old Folks Home thread. We would love to have you stop by, pull up a rocking chair and set a spell with us. Lots of lively conversation about everything from chickens in our lives to hobbies and health problems we face as we get older.

My husband and I retired 3 years ago and love it. He builds and flies RC planes and have 58 chickens!

Chicken(poultry) wire only keeps chickens IN, it does nothing to keep Predators OUT

The gold standard of fencing is 1/2" hardware cloth securely affixed to framing

Welcome to BYC. The circumstances surrounding your retirement suck, but other than that it is a grand thing that I highly recommend. I was able to retire early, and have never looked back. It's been a great phase in my life. Adding chickens will be very enjoyable.
