So Saturday I go out to feed\\water my six birds (3 black sex links and 3 yellow comets) and they are gone!! I had them in a 30x30 fenced in yard. The fence is 5ft, and they have a nice above ground coop. All I could find was a few feathers in the chicken yard - and a few feathers in various locations in the back yard and no blood. What ever it was it went over the fence not under it.

I had not been locking the coop door at night. I feel awefull. They were like my little pets. What kind of a monster would take\\kill all six in one night! I am very upset and can not find thier bodies any where. I am in NH.

I also will say it was a raccoon. Birds of prey most likely will not have taken all six in such short time and a fox usually leaves no sign of ever being there except for the missing birds. Our fox didn't even leave feathers or a blood trail, just vanished.

RACOON! So sorry for your loss.

Closing chickens in at night is a necessity if one wants to keep them from being killed and sometimes that isn't even enough. I have been deathly sick and forced myself to go out and lock my chicken house doors every night. Have seen the results of not doing this years ago...do not wish to see it again.

Well, thanks everyone for your post... I ordered some traps on-line today, and will be getting a gun tonight. I will be getting some retribution ... but I did not want it to come down to that. I will re-post as soon as I have something to tell you all.

I did not know a raccoon will carry off all six chickens... wish me luck!
