Houseplant and succulent enthusiasts

I have a slight advantage in that my Daughter is an Environmental Scientist/Plant Biologist.
So just asked Miss, and she said the best way to grow Hoya's from cutting is to put in water till they have reasonable roots, then add soil.
I did this with a couple, and it worked. Probably time to do some more.
Mind my Hoya's live out doors year round once they are in soil.
I have a number of Hoya's a big philodendron, a Monstera, a couple of Stapelias, couple of Mother in laws tounges, and a few other succulent types, plus mixed geraniums. These all live along the back of the house or under the patio. This is on the southern side of the house (in Australia) They get lots of shade from our hot summers, and the backyard is very heavily tree planted to help stop the strong winds.
Oh yes, and a bay tree, and pepper tree and lemon grass. The mulberry tree cuttings are in pots till they go out in the ground only.

Thank you so much! I'm sure the person who gave it to me fully intended on me planting it--I just never did! Poor thing--never been fed its whole life either. Does't complain too much tho... (love that kind of plant, lol)

It sounds like the green thumb is genetic! If you get the chance to share pictures, I know we would all love it! My sister has been pushing me to get mulberries. She is a botany/soil person, too. (Always good to have one in the family!)

Sorry but I don't own a camera or mobile phone, to take photos.
Yes I regularly get told I am a dinosaur.
But I am a dinosaur who enjoys peace and quiet and does not get scammed. :D
Mum is pretty good with plants too, she had a Paw Paw come up in the compost tank, so she planted it out and it is now about 4ft tall and has it's 1st flowers.

That's not a bad thing. I self-identify as a luddite, but have let technology take its hold on me surly more than I should.

I don't think I know what a Paw Paw is, but I will have to look up pictures. It's always fun to have those unexpected kind of volunteers. I'm sure even more fun when you can keep them alive! 🤣

Hello drought-tolerant plant lovers! (I found your thread, @fluffycrow 😄.)

Did you solve this problem? I had a big fungus gnat problem probably almost 10 years ago or so already, but I did solve it by using beneficial nematodes. I was desperate, didn't think it would work, but I didn't have the problem anymore after I got them.

I don't really remember much on how or what to do with them, but follow the instructions. Maybe you could try that. Hopefully your lily is still hanging in there.

I have a Hoya that has lived in a cup of water since I got it oh, 7 or 8 years ago . (I know that might not be best practice, but it is still alive.) I'll try to take pictures and see if you all know what variety it is and maybe how to best treat it henceforward. 😅
No...I did not fix the issue. I no longer have indoor plants. I have a few in clear water pots, 1 is doing well and the other are just ...slowly dying...

We are having lots of rain on and off so the temperature is humid, lot of moisture in the air mostly so for now I will not have indoor plants. This weather condition is a breeding ground for fugal stuff.

Paw Paw is a Tropical fruit - actually a bit cold here in winter for it - according to the "experts"
Also it should like rather more humidity - but apparently has not read the book that says so. ;)
Ohmigosh! It's actually native to Southwest Michigan, USA (Paw Paw, Michigan area). I've been meaning to grow that because it once grew wild here! That's exciting! We have tons of fruit trees in our area, but we get LOTS of snow and cold weather in the winter, I wish we were tropical!

Here's the Hoya. I don't know why it has white spots on the leaves. Maybe drywall spackling got on it at some point? I usually try to keep the leaves dusted and shrapnel-free for the most part.

Anything to consider if I take this nearly decade-long swimmer out of the pool?

Paw Paws grow in the United States? How did I not know this? And how in Michigan? 🤔🤣 You learn something new...
