Entirely new to this

Hi! My name is Andrea, I am from Texas and am entirely new to this! I only started because while helping my mom feed my grandfathers chickens/roosters, my boyfriend and I found an abandoned chick. It was abandoned because one of the legs does not work. So my boyfriend and I kind of took over, but we have no experience raising chicks whatsoever haha! So any and ALL advice is appreciated!

Hi Andrea and welcome to BYC. Assuming that your chick can adapt to its issues, it would be much happier with a couple of pals - chickens are social animals. Some people do keep house chickens - type "house chickens" in the search box and see what pops up.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

The thread is called "people with house chickens." if you put that in the search box it will come up for you. Is the leg broken or paralysed? If you touch it does it express pain? Is the leg warm to the touch or cold? These are things you could address if you post on the "Emergencies,diseases, injuries, cures," thread.

Hi and no it doesn't express pain, its warm to the touch and it's obvious it's getting circulation it just doesn't work
