i am curious to see what products people have tried and how they worked out. doent have to be home made or organic. I recently thought about what im putting into my septic system and possiblly effecting my ground water. I purchased dish detergent called Ecover that seems to work well and was less than $4 for a large bottle, quite a value as well. Today I purchased Arm & Hammer clothes detergent that has bio degradeable soaps, etc, Im not sure what its called and its still in the car. What products have tried and liked? Im still looking for dishwasher detergent.

I make biodiesel from used cooking oil and the co product is glycerin the I make all our soaps for the house with....laundry, dishes, bar soap, car wash, degreaser etc.

I made my own laundry detergent from my own handmade soap. Gonna admit here that I DO NOT like it!!! The longer I use it the more....grey...my clothing seems. I have used the Arm and Hammer detergent you are talking about and I love it!!! And it smells wonderful!!!!! I do a lot of my cleaning with baking soda, vinegar, etc. Oh, and for mirrors....I wash them with a wet cloth (just plain water) then wipe down until dry with a lint free cloth. They are PERFECT and it is absolutely pure (just water) and even free!!!

making my owns stuff is more trouble than i have time for. glad to hear you like the arm&hammer. im trying to think of more products to switch over.

I use the Cascade "pacs" in my dishwasher. You tend to overuse with the powder and liquid stuff, but this is just one little packet that you put in the dishwasher. It's really cut down on the amount of detergent I use and the "pacs" are cheaper per use.

i currently use the electrasol packs, i did see in the organics isle at the grocery store that there is an eco friendly brand for the dishwasher but Im hesitant to spend money if it doesnt work as well.

I order from Melaleuca. I love their stuff. I also sell it and sign people up to be customers. I have never goen after people. I reall only have friends and family signed up that aske me to sign them up.

I tried (I think it's called) Seventh Generation and it didn't work at all. My dishes came out very spotty and the stuff didn't even rinse all the way off. And it's not like I have an old dishwasher.

Before i moved in my Apt 2 months ago i replaced all the lights with fluorescent light bulbs and i only buy house appliances that are ENERY STAR marked
